So, Maria Hingis has tested positive for cocaine. As the test she failed was taken at Wimbledon, it means that it has taken 3 months or longer for this to become known.
But what really staggers me is that Larry Scott of the WTA Tour said he knew nothing of it. At the risk of pointing out the obvious, the WTA describes itself as the “governing body of women’s tennis”.
And as if I could be staggered further a spokesperson for the Swiss Tennis Association also said that they had yet to be informed.
So if I’ve got this right, an athlete fails a test and neither disciplinary body is told about it. Good work chaps, good work.
